Palaver Maven writes for food

In these days of food banks feeding many of the nation’s families, I’ve been researching and reporting about the poverty conditions of places in the UK, based on Eurostat statistics. My homeland of Cornwall fares pretty badly, compared with the rest of the UK: maybe the reason I’m drawn to the ethos of the wonderful project that is Bude for Food.

In its first stages this year, the festival seeks to celebrate the incredible food on offer in North Cornwall by showcasing suppliers, restaurants, pubs and cafes who produce, prepare and perform food in a way that promotes health and emphasises provenance. Blessed, as those shores are, with a range of seaweeds, edible herbs and shellfish; as well as a plentiful supply of sustainable fish, some wonderful people have collaborated to create a festival with a focus on making food accessible to all. Through foraging for local delights and arranging cookery demonstrations with food bank items; the festival tackles food poverty in a fun, funky and fresh manner.

Palaver Maven has been press manager for this exciting campaign; helping to get this incredible celebration of edible on the map. Watch this space for further press liaison and exposure for this up-and-coming festival.
